Abigail Deser is a multidisciplinary director and creative collaborator known for powerful storytelling on stage, screen and radio. Her work has earned many honors including the 2024 Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Director (Dido of Idaho) and the 2020 Los Angeles Ovation Award for Best Production in a Large Venue (And Then They Came for Me).

With roots in both experimental and classical forms, she has directed World and American Premieres at reknowned theater across the country including Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theater Company and LA’s award-winning Echo Theater Company, The Theater at Boston Court as well as at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. She has helped shape new work as Associate Artistic Director of the Ojai Playwrights Conference. Her five collaborations with the LA Philharmonic at Disney Hall for the Toyoto Youth Symphony program merged world class music performance and original narrative for the education and enjoyment of over 50,000 young audience members.

On screen, Abigail has directed award-winning short films, co-produced the feature documentary American Anarchist, and served as story consultant on the award-winning documentary feature, Finding Vivian Maier. A graduate of Barnard College and a graduate degree from MIT, she brings intellectual rigor, emotional depth, and a fiercely creative spirit to every project.
